At Alder Hey Hospital, Liverpool, UK, we have trained Dr Shakil as the Senior Paediatric Ophthalmology consultant.
Our teachers have also participated in training orthoptists and optometrists in Lahore (www.coavs.org) who are now employed in this facility.
Recently, with innovative refurbishment, a unique children's eyecare facility has been incorporated within the hospital, allowing outpatient visits separate from adult outpatients. We are now providing technical expertise in the form of patient care pathways; specifications for equipment and audit processes. For the future a paediatric ophthalmology teaching course is being designed, which is appropriate and relevant to the needs of the community in partnership with the hospital.
